Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

Physiatry-led, non-surgical care that restores function and treats pain across muscles, joints, nerves and the spine.

How it works

Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), also called Physiatry, focuses on diagnosing and treating conditions affecting the muscles, joints, nerves, and spine, with an emphasis on restoring function and avoiding surgery when appropriate.

A physiatrist evaluates your symptoms, movement, and overall function to understand what is causing your pain or physical limitations and will use that information to guide treatments. Treatments may include targeted procedures, medications, physical therapy, and/or rehabilitation to reduce pain, improve mobility, and restore function.
